Vashon Island’s Ian Moore recently rocked the Tractor Tavern while my pals Red Jacket Mine played supporting act. The pics from Red Jacket Mine’s set are found here. The story on Ian goes back to Texas beginnings with lauded guitar work rooted in the blues that led to solo tours opening for the Rolling Stones and ZZ Top, among others. These days he’s got his own thing going on that is stripped down, honest, and viscerally exciting with subtle hints of his guitar mastery. Catch him when you can.

I recently shot the 50th wedding anniversary party of Eddie and Nancy Moriarty at the Swedish Cultural Center on the east side of Queen Anne in Seattle. It turned out to be a beautiful night with stunning views of Lake Union, the Cascades and Capital Hill and a festive bunch of friends and family.

Shortly after the couple arrived via town car and Eddie Moriarty receiving his boutonniere.

The same father that married them 50 years ago, Father William Treacy, was on hand for some kind words.

The Father’s Blessing

Even Washington’s former governor Albert Rosellini was there to celebrate.

And with a bunch of Moriarty kids and nearly 50 zillion cousins, there were no shortage of cute kids running around.

Non-stop entertainment was provided by the Rigatones.

The speeches and kind words were shared with a packed house of very proud and emotive family and friends.

Eddie and Nancy were overtaken with emotion from the outpouring of love.

Dan, or the Dapper Don and he is commonly referred to as, handled most of the microphone duties as the eldest Moriarty child.

And in the end, after all of the words of love, respect, appreciation and amazement at Eddie and Nancy’s marriage, there were few dry eyes in the house. Not a dry eye

As chronicled here, I have an audio and photography relationship with local band Red Jacket Mine as a result of engineering their current round of album tracks at Soundhouse Recording under the production guidance of one Mr. Ken Stringfellow. And when they announced their show for last night’s performance at the Tractor Tavern in my own backyard of Ballard, there was no way they could keep me or my arsenal of Nikon glass away.
